With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, and the guidance and support of the Diocesan Council, the Diocesan Youth Association has been established in an effort to unify the youth of the diocese in Christ and His Holy Church. The patron saints and role models of the Association are the Holy Royal Children Martyrs: Alexis, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia.

The importance of involving youth in diocesan life cannot be overstated; by creating strong bonds of friendship, we help keep many young people under the omophorion of the Holy Church. Our goal is to expand the Association to every parish in the diocese. With this in mind, we ask that every parish, mission, seminary, and summer camp select one “youth representative” to the Association. Ultimately, this delegate would be responsible for proliferating information about happenings in our diocese and within the Youth Association to the young people in their parish, encouraging their peers to become involved in services and in the life of their parish, as well as in larger events within the diocese as a whole.

This representative’s role is not to be the sole member of his church to become involved in our Association. Rather, they should serve as an example to their fellows, and encourage them to meet the goals of our mentioned mission statement, as well as acting as the bridge between other Representatives, the Youth Association Council, his spiritual father, and the youth of his church. Establishing this kind of contact for the diocese within a youth network is the first step in building a true Orthodox community, and is imperative for the success and future of a vibrant Orthodox youth.
