Nanuet, NY: Patronal Feast Day of St. Seraphim Cathedral in Novo-Diveevo - 08/01/16

On Sunday, July 31, and Monday, August 1, the feast of the Uncovering of the Relics of the Venerable Seraphim, Wonderworker of Sarov, Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, celebrated the patronal feast day of the convent’s main St. Seraphim Cathedral.

On Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th of August, on the great feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, led the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Bishop Nicholas congratulated the clergy and parishioners with the feast and, in accordance with Orthodox tradition, blessed the grapes, apples, and other fruits of the harvest.

Miami, FL: Protodeacon Thomas Branch has reposed in the Lord - 08/24/16

On Wednesday, August 24, Protodeacon Thomas Branch, cleric of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL, reposed in the Lord. He was 66 years old. Born in Ft. Worth, TX, Fr. Thomas adopted Orthodoxy as an adult. In 1972, he married Catherine Kaschak. In 1990, he was ordained a subdeacon by Metropolitan Philip (Saliba), head of the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America. He completed seminary courses in that jurisdiction in 1993.
