On Bright Saturday, April 22, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan celebrated Divine Liturgy in Nativity of the Mother of God Church in Albany, NY. The Liturgy was sung by the Youth Choir of the St. Vladimir Youth Association, this year comprised of 25 people

Although the St. Sava Serbian Cathedral community in New York City lost its church in the fire on Pascha May 1, 2016, with God’s grace, thanks to the brotherly love of the Greek and the Russian people, it continued uninterruptedly to conduct its services. Both the Greek and Russian Churches opened the doors of their temples to the faithful of St. Sava parish.

On Thomas Sunday, April 23, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, visited Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY and celebrated Divine Liturgy in the convent’s main St. Seraphim Cathedral. The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad brought with him the Holy Fire, which had descended in Jerusalem just the week prior and was brought to America in time for the Paschal services in New York City.

On Saturday, April 29, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern American & New York arrived at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY, of which he is the rector, and led the divine services in Nativity of the Mother of God Church on the eve of the feast of Venerable Zosimas of Solovki, Heavenly patron of the Synodal Candle Factory, which operates on the hermitage grounds.

On April 30, the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-bearing Women, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, paid his traditional visit to Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY for the patronal feast of the parish sisterhood.

On May 7, the Sunday of the Paralytic, St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, greeted for the first time ever a distinguished guest from Africa – His Grace Athanasios, Bishop of Kisumu & All Western Kenya (Patriarchate of Alexandria). With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, Bishop Athanasios celebrated Divine Liturgy alongside His Eminence, Metropolitan Jonah, and the cathedral clergy, led by parish rector Archpriest Victor Potapov.

On Saturday, May 13, the eve of the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, visited St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC. At 5 o’clock in the evening, to the peal of bells, the honored guest was greeted with bread and salt by the cathedral’s warden...

On Monday, May 15, the Russian Mt. Athos Institute’s archeographical group – headed by its director, V.I. Pirogov, and academic director, D.V. Zubov – visited arrived in the United States. Deacon Andrei Psarev, professor at Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY, assisted the delegation in its work.

On Tuesday, May 23, the feast day of the Holy Apostle Simon the Zealot, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan visited the Eastern American Diocesan Center in Howell, NJ, and celebrated Divine Liturgy in Our Lady of Tikhvin Church.

At the invitation of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev & All Ukraine, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York has been visiting Ukraine. On Saturday, May 27, the feast day of Venerable Nikita the Recluse, Bishop of Novgorod, Metropolitan Hilarion celebrated Divine Liturgy in Annunciation Church in the Far Caves of the Kiev Caves Lavra.

On Thursday, May 25, the great feast of the Ascension of the Lord, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York took part in the great consecration of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ and the Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of the Russian Church in Moscow’s Sretensky Stavropegial Monastery, led by His Holiness Kyrill, Patriarch of Moscow & All Russia. 

On May 21, the Sunday of the Blind Man, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy. After the greeting of the archpastor by the parish warden and rector – Archpriest Alexander Donchenko – Liturgy began.
