New York City: On Great Tuesday, Metropolitan Hilarion & Bishop Nicholas serve Presanctified Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On Great Tuesday, April 26, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York and Bishop Nicolas of Manhattan led the Presanctified Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. The hierarchs were co-served by cathedral clergy.

On Great Tuesday, the Savior spent much time teaching both in the Temple in Jerusalem and beyond its walls. Hearing these parables and understanding that Christ was speaking about them, the high priests and elders attempted to seize and kill Him, but decided not to do it openly, because they feared the people, who honored Him as a prophet.

On this day, the Church also remembers the Parables of the Ten Virgins and of the Talents, which especially call the faithful to spiritual vigilance, to expedient use of our God-given abilities and strengths. The faithful gathered in the cathedral were particularly attentive to the day’s Gospel readings and the prayerful hymns. Many did their best to make their confession early, in order to worthily greet the Feast of feasts – the Glorious Resurrection of Christ.
