Jordanville, NY: Bishop Nicholas visits Holy Trinity Monastery, serves Panihida for Metropolitan Laurus

On Wednesday, August 31, the feast of the Holy Martyrs Florus and Laurus, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, where he led a panihida for the fifth First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

The evening prior, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God arrived at the monastery, and was present in the monastery’s main cathedral church for the divine services. Bishop Nicholas arrived that morning, and prayed in the altar during Midnight Office and Divine Liturgy. A luncheon was served for the clergy and brethren, after which His Grace led a panihida for Metropolitan Laurus (Skurla; +2008) at the crypts below the cathedral’s altar. The hierarch was co-served by monastery and local clergy.

Also commemorated on his saint’s day was longtime former monastery clergy Archimandrite Flor (Vanko; +2012), while Archimandrite Sergei (Romberg; +1992), Subdeacon Basil Anderson, and Rassaphore monk Andrew were commemorated on the anniversary of their repose.

Memory eternal to Metropolitan Laurus, Archimandrites Flor and Sergius, Subdeacon Basil, and Rassaphore monk Andrew!
