Wayne, WV: Holy Cross Monastery to Undertake Construction of Work Building
This summer, 8the brethren of Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV, are undertaking the construction of a much-needed work building. This building will include a candle workshop to replace the one destroyed in the convent fire of the summer of 2013. Additionally, it will house a commercial bakery, a centralized tool room, and a meeting room for the large monastic brotherhood.
The monastery is also bringing natural gas and water utility lines up the main entrance road. The gas line will significantly reduce the monastery’s utility bills, especially during the frequent power outages, and the water line will enable the brethren to finally install a fire hydrant to protect monastery structures.
