Jordanville, NY: Metropolitan Hilarion leads Holy Spirit Day Services at Holy Trinity Monastery

On Monday, June 1, the feast day of the Holy Spirit, the clergy and brethren of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY celebrated their patronal feast day. His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by His Eminence, Metropolitan Jonah (former Primate of the Orthodox Church in America), and monastery and visiting clergy: 16 priests and 9 deacons.

At the Little Entrance, the First Hierarch awarded two monastery clerics, elevating Hieromonk Theophylact (Clapper-DeWell) to the rank of abbot (igumen), and bestowing on Hieromonk Cyprian (Alexandrou) the right to wear the palitsa.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a short moleben was served to the Most Holy Trinity. Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated the monastery brethren and pilgrims on the occasion of the feast day, and spoke about the importance of the holy habitation to the broader Church, and the necessity for its continued missionary outreach to the world.

The monastery’s abbot, Archimandrite Luke (Murianka), then invited all to enjoy a reception in the refectory in honor of the feast day.
