Jordanville: Fire destroys Holy Trinity Monastery’s Apiary

On the afternoon of Thursday, January 9, the apiary building at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, used for extracting honey, burnt down, along with some adjoining sheds. As reported by the official site of Holy Trinity Monastery, the equipment used in extracting honey was damaged beyond repair. Emergency crews from various departments responded and put out the fire, preventing other buildings from burning. Thanks be to God, various gas tanks that were in the area were removed from the danger of the blaze. The brethren of Holy Trinity Monastery have expressed their gratitude to all of the departments that responded and assisted in containing and extinguishing the fire, and ask for the prayers of the faithful for God’s continued protection and the overall wellbeing of the monastery.

This incident has brought attention to continued acute need to upgrade all of the electrical and plumbing systems at the monastery. The brethren sincerely ask the continued assistance of the faithful in making general repairs in these areas and more, in their ongoing effort to modernize the monastery’s infrastructure. Those interested can also visit the monastery’s newly redesigned website here, which features recently completed restoration projects with photos.
