Nanuet, NY: Eight Tones Saturday at Novo-Diveevo

The Synodal School of Liturgical Music (SSLM) is proud to present the first of a series of Eight Tones Saturdays, held at the Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY.

Would you like to sing in church but are intimidated by "the Tones"? Do you already sing on the kliros but don’t know how to sing troparia and stichera from the text without music? Then this workshop is for you! Come to Novo-Diveevo and spend the day learning the Eight Tone melodies! Study includes not only the melodies themselves, but also how to sing them with text only (so you don’t even need to read music!)

Saturday, November 20, will be dedicated to learning the troparia and stichera melodies in the tradition of the Eastern American Diocese, under the direction of SSLM faculty Laryssa Doohovskoy, Valentina Shatalova, and Irina du Quenoy. Also included are voice training and sight-singing practice.

Melodies will be taught in both English and Church Slavonic.
