On December 22, the 27th Sunday after Pentecost and the feast of the Conception by the Righteous Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, co-served by diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan.

On Wednesday, December 25, following Divine Liturgy in Holy Epiphany Church, the work of St. Herman Youth Conference continued in Boston, MA. Attendees engaged in workshops that strengthened their understanding of their Orthodox Faith, and touched on how to become more active parishioners and how to balance one’s beliefs in a secular world.

On Monday, December 16, the Eastern American Diocesan Council met at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, to have its final meeting of 2019. The meeting was chaired by Metropolitan Hilarion, along with the diocesan secretary, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan.

On Wednesday, December 25, the feast of Venerable Herman of Alaska, clergy and participants of the annual St. Herman Youth Conference gathered in Holy Epiphany Church in Roslindale (Boston), MA, to commemorate the feast of the Enlightener of Alaska.

On Tuesday morning, December 24, the annual St. Herman Youth Conference opened in Holy Epiphany Church in Roslindale (Boston), MA. This year over 170 young men and women are taking part in the conference, some traveling thousands of miles from across the Eastern American and Canadian Dioceses.

On Thursday, December 19, the feast of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas, Wonderworker of Myra in Lycia, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Stratford, CT, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy in honor of the parish’s patronal feast day.

For nine days, from November 27-December 5, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, one of the most ancient icons of the Russian Orthodox Church (1295), visited St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC as well as other parishes and communities of ROCOR in our vicinity.
