With the blessing of Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, the Metropolitan Laurus Synodal School of Liturgical Music has opened its 35th year.
Students from all over the country and beyond are currently at Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, working on the unique, prayerful, and beautiful Russian Orthodox chant. Students will be studying Church Slavonic for both English and Russian speakers, Church Music History, Liturgical Performance Practice, Music Theory and Musicianship, Choral Methods, Choir Conducting, Voice, and Typicon.
Second- and third-year students prepare and chant several services throughout the two weeks under the supervision of the faculty. This school gives adults an opportunity to work on their skills, as well as being in the presence of other Orthodox people for two weeks.
