On Friday, September 5, the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Panteleimon Church in Hartford, CT. The icon’s guardian, Priest Nectarios Yangson, accompanied the icon to the church, which was already filled with worshippers and clergy. People came out into the street to greet the wonderworking image. The church was filled with worshippers as though it were Pascha.

A moleben and akathist were served before the myrrh-streaming icon.

Serving alongside the rector, Archpriest Dionisy Nalitov, were Archpriest Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George Serbian Church in Elizabeth, NJ) and Priests Stephen Kaznica (rector of Holy New Martyrs of Russia Church in Norwich, CT) and Philip Beiner (rector of Holy Trinity OCA Church in New Britain, CT).

Gathering in the church to pray and receive a blessing for the miraculous icon were not only parishioners of St. Panteleimon Church, but also worshippers from Greek, Romanian, and OCA churches. Some even came from Massachusetts and Rhode Island. All worshippers were able to venerate the wonderworking icon and were anointed with myrrh.

Fr. Nectarios presented a copy of the myrrh-streaming icon as a blessing to the church. After a communal meal and warm fellowship among the clergy, the icon continued its journey to other parishes.

On Saturday and Sunday, those who for various reasons were unable to attend on Friday continued to come to the church to venerate the donated copy of the icon, be anointed with myrrh from the icon, and receive a small paper icon as a blessing.
