Nanuet, NY: Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" to celebrate its 70th Anniversary

On Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th of October, Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY will hold celebrations in honor of the 70th anniversary of its founding. All are cordially invited to take part.

About the Convent

On October 14, 1949, the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, the first Divine Liturgy was served in Holy Dormition Convent by Protopresbyter Adrian Rymarenko (later Archbishop Andrew of Rockland; +1978). From that day to the present, the convent has celebrated daily divine services.

Schedule of Events

Friday, October 18

6:00 PM – Greeting of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon & myrrh-streaming Hawaiian-Iveron Icons of the Mother of God, followed by All-Night Vigil and Confession.

Saturday, October 19

8:30 AM – Greeting of Metropolitan Hilarion, followed by Divine Liturgy. Moleben to follow.

Following Liturgy:

  • Anniversary Luncheon*
  • Presentations on the history of the convent
  • Tours of the convent grounds, churches, and cemetery
  • Children’s Activities

*Advanced ticket purchase required for the Anniversary Luncheon:

  • Adults – $45

  • Children (6-12) – $20
  • Children 5 & under – free
