On Sunday evening, November 29, the Brotherhood of Saint Demetrios Skete in Spotsylvania, VA was blessed to be visited by Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, accompanying the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Accompanying His Grace were clergy from St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC: rector Archpriest Victor Potapov, Deacon Gregory Trubetskoy, and Subdeacon Andrei Mouravieff.
The skete’s abbot, Metropolitan Jonah (Paffhausen), served an akathist before the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, co-served by Hierodeacon Silouan (Brown; skete cleric). Prayers were offered especially for those supporting and praying for the newly established monastic community.
After a service, the visitors were given a tour and enjoyed refreshments before continuing their travels on to Washington.
