On Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of April, His Eminence Gabriel, Archbishop of Montreal & Canada, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Petersburg, FL, where the officiated the divine services for the Sunday of the Cross in St. Andrew Stratelates Cathedral.
Serving alongside the hierarch at the All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening were parish rector Archpriest Igor Chitikov, and Archpriests Stephan Romanchak (parish cleric; retired) and Stephen Zaremba (rector of St. Catherine Mission in Clearwater, FL).
Concelebrating at Divine Liturgy with Archbishop Gabriel on Sunday morning were Frs. Igor, Stephan, and Stephen, along with Priest Michael Criscella (cleric of St. Sophia Mission in Kissimmee, FL) and parish Deacon Stephan Romanchak. After the Eucharistic Canon, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Joseph Galluccio to the diaconate. The newly ordained Deacon Joseph will fulfill his service at St. Andrew Cathedral.
Fr. Stephen Zaremba addressed the faithful with a sermon on the Cross of the Lord.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Archbishop Gabriel spoke briefly about the diaconal ordination, and expressed his joy at being able to again visit Florida and the parish of St. Andrew. After the service, a luncheon was served in the parish hall.
His Eminence’s visit continued for several more days, and on Tuesday, April 6, he officiated the All-Night Vigil for the great feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, co-served by Fr. Igor, Fr. Stephen Zaremba, and Fr. Joseph. The following morning, Wednesday, April 7, Archbishop Gabriel celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Igor, Fr. Stephen Zaremba, and Fr Michael, after which a luncheon was served.
