On Friday evening, June 4, the American-Russian Aid Association Otrada held a reception in honor of its 75th anniversary. Attending the reception were the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, and Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, as well as Priest George Temidis (rector of the Icon of the Mother of God "Otrada" ["Comfort and Consolation"] Chapel located on AARA-Otrada's grounds).
After greeting all gathered with the ongoing Paschal days, Metropolitan Hilarion presented a diocesan gramota to ARAA-Otrada president Marena Maltsev in honor of their semisesquicentennial, which read, in part
"Today, ARAA ‘Otrada’ continues its service to our Russian community, supporting its cultural center in Rockland County, and two charitable foundations, one out of which was established in the memory of Prince Belosselsky– the founder of ARAA, and the other – in the memory of the Holy Venerable Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth. In accordance with their traditions of charitable acts left by Saint Elizabeth and Prince Belosselsky, these funds provide generous support of our Church, as well as various cultural, educational and humanitarian initiatives."
A diocesan gramota was also presented to Dr. Nikita Tregubov (President of ARAA Otrada from 2013-2018) recognizing his 88th birthday and tireless labors in directing monies of the various funds to assist those in need.
