On June 13, the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, the clergy of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ celebrated the 80th birthday of their brother-concelebrant, Archpriest Boris Slootsky.

On Sunday morning, cathedral rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by: Archpriest Rafael Melendez, Fr. Boris, Priest Anthony Williams, Protodeacon Paul Drozdowski, and Deacon Dimitry Lisan, as well as Priest Dmitri Don (cleric of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY).

Upon completion of Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted Fr. Boris and his loving spouse Matushka Galina, and on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, presented them a diocesan gramota, which also commemorated the celebrant’s upcoming 25th anniversary of ordination. On behalf of the parish, Fr. Boris was also presented a jeweled cross, while Matushka Galina was presented an icon of Venerable Seraphim Sarov in a riza.

A thanksgiving moleben was served for Fr. Boris and Matushka Galina, after which the protodeacon intoned the Polychronion for them.
