Hartford, CT: Kursk Root, "Softener of Evil Hearts" Icons visit St. Panteleimon Church

On Saturday, December 18, the feast day of Venerable Sabbas the Sanctified, the myrrh-streaming Icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts" visited the Church of the Holy Great-Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in Hartford, CT. Parish rector Archpriest Dionisy Nalitov celebrated Divine Liturgy that day. The service also took place under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

A multitude of parishioners came to pray at Liturgy and venerate the Most Holy Theotokos. Most of those in attendance communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of Liturgy, a moleben was served before the wonderworking images. Praying alongside Fr. Dionisy was Archpriest Dimitri Jackimowicz, rector of St. Nicholas Church in Stratford, CT. Everyone present was anointed with holy myrrh from the myrrh-streaming icon, and blessed with copies of the same.

Prior to offering the cross for veneration by parishioners, Fr. Dionisy greeted altar server Savva Nalitov on the occasion of his namesday.

Clergy and parishioners then proceeded to the parish hall, where the church sisterhood had organized a luncheon, and where all were able to interact with Sergei Fomin, guardian of the Icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts." Parishioners all came out to bid the holy image farewell, with hope in their hearts for further visits in the future.
