On June 12, on the feast of the Leavetaking of Holy Pascha and on the eve of the great feast of the Ascension of the Lord, a second cupola was installed on the main St. Seraphim of Sarov Cathedral of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY. Before raising the dome to the roof of the temple, the dome was blessed by the convent clergy.
The creation and installation of the cupola was funded entirely by donors. Volunteer members of the convent community helped build the wooden frame and then covered the dome with stainless steel in the style to match the existing dome on the cathedral. The materials for the cupola were also covered by donations.
As the convent prepares for its 75th anniversary, additional projects including cleaning and painting the outside of the church as well, and the landscape design around the perimeter of the cathedral are planned to be completed.
