On Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of November, pilgrims from across the Eastern American Diocese flocked to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY to commemorate the martyric death of Brother José Muñoz-Cortés, the guardian of myrrh-streaming Montreal Icon of the Mother of God.
Pilgrims arrived via bus and carload from various parishes, including St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ, and Holy New Martyrs of Russia Church in Norwich, CT.
Panihidas were served at Brother José’s gravesite throughout the weekend.
On Sunday morning, monastery abbot and Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by numerous monastery and visiting clergy. Before the start of Liturgy, Bishop Luke tonsured first-year Master of Divinity student Nicholas Wildman a reader.
