On Wednesday, December 4, when the Holy Church celebrates the great feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad were cathedral clerics: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer and Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Serge Arlievsky.
A multitude of the faithful prayed at Liturgy, many of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon completion of Liturgy, His Eminence greeted the clergy and faithful with the great feast, noting that we have already begun to prepare for the feast of Christ’s Nativity, which is demonstrated by the hymns being sung at the divine services.
"The Mother of God gives us a clear example of how we ought to conduct our lives: visiting God’s temple. The three-year-old maiden ascended the steps to the Temple herself, and enters the Holy of Holies. We also have our temple – both our cathedral and the lower church. There is holiness here – our prayers and the Sacraments. Let us follow the example of the Mother of God and attend our sanctified temple."
Metropolitan Nicholas invited all present to come to the cathedral on Tuesday, December 10, for its patronal feast of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, and to pray at the festal divine services.
