On Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st of December, clergy and faithful gathered in St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ to bid farewell to Alexander N. Olhovsky, who reposed on the preceding Tuesday.
Officiating the panihida service on Friday evening was the son of the departed, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. Serving alongside His Eminence were: Archpriests Serge Lukianov (dean of New Jersey), Serafim Gan (chancellor of the Synod of Bishops), Seraphim Chemodakov (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City), and Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of the memorial church), and Protodeacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ).
The following morning, December 21, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Serge Lukianov, Abbot Eutychius (Dovgan; abbot of St. Nicholas Skete in Freehold, NJ), Archpriest Paul Ivanov (rector of Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn, NY), Frs. Seraphim Chemodakov and Serge Ledkovsky, Priest Anthony Williams (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral), Protodeacon Leonid Roschko (parish cleric), and Deacon Dimitry Lisan (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral).
After Liturgy, the funeral was served, and the above-mentioned clergy were joined by Archpriests Ljubo Milosevic (rector of Holy Trinity Church in Vineland, NJ) and Luka Novakovic (cleric of the same) and Protodeacons Paul Wolkow, Eugene Kallaur (clerics of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY), and Serge Arlievsky (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral).
Over 100 people prayed in church. The choir sang prayerfully under the direction of Gregory Ivanov.
After the services, a memorial repast was served in the parish hall for all in attendance. After the meal, the remains of the reposed were taken to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY. On Sunday, after the festal luncheon, a final panihida was served, after which Alexander Nikolaevich was buried next to his wife Evdokia (+2006).
