In the evening on March 23, the Sunday of the Cross, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York performed the Sacrament of Holy Unction in Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn, NY. Serving alongside His Eminence were Archpriests Alexandre Antchoutine (dean of New York City), Paul Ivanov (parish rector), Vasily Zelenyuk (rector of Unexpected Joy Church on Staten Island, NY) & Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Priests Vitaly Lalyukov (parish cleric) & Nicholas Gukin ((acting rector of Life-Giving Spring Icon of the Theotokos OCA Mission in Philadelphia, PA) and Deacon Fiodor Tulbur (parish cleric).

The Sacrament was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

Upon completion of the service, Metropolitan Nicholas greeted Fr. Paul, thanking him for his invitation to officiate the Sacrament, and thanked all of the clergy for their joint prayers.
