Atlanta, GA: Bishop Luke performs Archpastoral Visit to St. Mary of Egypt Church

From Saturday, the 5th, through Monday, the 7th of April, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse performed an archpastoral visit to St. Mary of Egypt Church in Roswell (Atlanta), GA. Serving alongside His Grace at the divine services were rector Archimandrite John (Townsend) and parish clergy.

On Saturday, April 5, the feast of the Laudation of the Holy Theotokos, with the blessing of Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, Bishop Luke ordained Subdeacon David Burrows to the diaconate.

On April 6, the 5th Sunday of Great Lent, Bishop Luke celebrated Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast.

During the reading of the hours, His Grace tonsured Samuel Stewing and Michael Young readers.

After the Great Entrance, Bishop Luke ordained Deacon David Burrows to the priesthood for service in St. Clement of Rome Mission in Rome, GA. After the Eucharistic Canon, Subdeacon Cyril Donohoe was ordained to the diaconate for service in St. John the Wonderworker Mission in Diamondhead, MS.

At the conclusion of the liturgy, the diocesan vicar congratulated all the clergy and parishioners on the patronal feast.

On Monday, April 7, the great feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, Bishop Luke celebrated Divine Liturgy. During Liturgy, Subdeacon Mark King was ordained to the diaconate for service in St. Mary of Egypt Church.
