On the night of Saturday the 19th into Sunday the 20th of April, divine services for the great feast of Christ’s Glorious Resurrection were held in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, led by the monastery’s abbot, Bishop Luke of Syracuse. Serving alongside His Grace were monastery and seminary faculty clergy.
The choir sang the divine services under the direction of Deacon Nicholas Kotar. The Paschal Sermon of St. John Chrysostom at the end of Matins was read aloud by Bishop Luke.
The weather on these Paschal days cooperated fully with the radiant feast and the nighttime procession. Red lamps were lit at the graves of the monastic brethren within the monastery walls – the Paschal greeting of the reposed brothers.
The monastery’s main church – Holy Trinity Cathedral – was festally adorned. A large number of pilgrims prayed at the Paschal Divine Liturgy, many of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon completion of Liturgy, a festal meal was served in the monastery refectory, attended by the brethren, teachers, seminarians, pilgrims, and relatives of the monks and students, who chose to spend the feast at the monastery.
