Jackson, NJ: On Bright Saturday, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrates Paschal Liturgy in St. Vladimir Memorial Church

On Bright Saturday, April 26, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York performed an archpastoral visit to St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ, and celebrated Paschal Divine Liturgy there.

Serving alongside His Eminence were: Archpriest Serge Lukianov (dean of New Jersey), Archimandrite Gabriel (Pigarev; dean of Holy New Martyrs of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY), Archpriests Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of the memorial church), and Nikolai Manduke (cleric of the same), Priest Anthony Williams (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ), Protodeacons Serge Arlievsky (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City) and Paul Drozdowski, and Deacon Dimitri Lisan (clerics of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral).

The parish choir sang beautifully. The service was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas greeted everyone with the radiant feast of Christ’s Resurrection, explaining the meaning of the Artos. The deputy rector traditionally broke the Artos on Bright Saturday, which was then distributed to the faithful.

In the church hall, the sisterhood arranged a Paschal luncheon for the clergy, parishioners, and guests.
