On Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of June, the great feast of Pentecost was celebrated in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY with the usual solemnity. In preparation for the feast, Holy Trinity Cathedral was decorated with green saplings and bouquets of flowers.

Hierarchal Liturgy began after the meeting of monastery abbot, Bishop Luke of Syracuse, at 9:00 AM, with compunctious singing of the joint monastery-seminary choir under the direction of Deacon Nicholas Kotar.

On the eve of Holy Spirit Day, Sunday afternoon, Small Compline was served before supper with the reading of the Canon to the Holy Spirit. After supper, Matins was served in preparation for the patronal feast of Holy Trinity Monastery.

On Monday morning, June 9, the serving priest performed the Blessing of the Water as is the custom on a patronal feast day. At 9:00 AM, the ringing of the bells announced the meeting of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, who would celebrate Divine Liturgy. Bishop Luke was already vested and waiting in the altar. After the vesting of His Eminence and the reading of the hours, Divine Liturgy commenced, with monastery and visiting clergy serving alongside the two hierarchs. Liturgy proceeded prayerfully and solemnly.

After the Eucharistic Canon, Bishop Luke ordained Subdeacon-Monk Constatine (Myers) to the diaconate. The newly ordained Hierodeacon Constatine will fulfill his service in Jamaica.

Following Liturgy, a moleben was served with a procession around the cathedral, stopping at all four corners for litanies and the sprinkling of holy water.

After the service, all were invited to partake of a festal monastery luncheon.
