New York City: On 3rd Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On June 29, the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Serving alongside the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad were cathedral clerics: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, Hieromonk Theognost (Kogan), and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky, as well as Deacon Nicholas Ilyin (cleric of Holy Protection Church in Nyack, NY).

The Synodal choir sang at Liturgy under the direction of Vadim S. Gan.

Cathedral parishioners and believers from other churches prayed during the service; many received Christ’s Holy Mysteries

After the service, Fr. Andrei congratulated Metropolitan Nicholas on the anniversary of his hierarchal consecration and wished him God’s help in his archpastoral service.

Addressing the faithful, His Eminence called on them to pray for peace with God and people, for the knowledge of God and for the correction of their lives.

Interaction between the clergy and parishioners continued over lunch in the cathedral hall.
