The Washington-area "Putivl" Chapter of St. George Pathfinders of America continues celebrating its 60th anniversary in its usual, familiar place – a summer camp in the Virginia mountains outside the capital. The middle weekend is always special, and this year was even more memorable, thanks to the participation of senior scouts and parents.

After breakfast on Saturday, a tour of the camp was conducted, so that the visiting parents could see the various structures that the children had built: gates, etc.

Then, after lunch, everyone assembled for a scavenger hunt. All involved had fun solving riddles and finding the necessary items until the winning team was chosen.

Then – off to the subcamps, a little bit of rest, and getting ready for church. Those present thanked God for all things at Vespers in the camp chapel. The service was officiated Archpriest Alexander Resnikoff, one of the priests of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC. Another cathedral priest, Fr. Damian Dantinne, spent the first week at the camp working with the children.

After the service, all proceeded to dinner. For dessert, to everyone’s delight, were two huge cakes. A 60th anniversary emblem, designed to commemorate the occasion, was not only minted as a jubilee pin and printed on t-shirts for camp participants, but even decorated the cakes. There was almost nothing left of them. Having enjoyed the treat, everyone went to the ceremonial formation, where the achievements of some scouts were noted.

Instructor Nicholas Boboshko was promoted to scout instructor, Staff Instructor Anna Moiseeva received the Golden Palm, 4th Class, and Druzhinnitsa Katherine Markward (Quirk) became a staff instructor. The triple "hurrah" was shouted to honor their well-deserved accomplishments.

The day ended by a wonderful campfire, complete with favorite songs, skits and jokes, and a warm feeling of family and scout unity.

The next day, virtually the entire camp received Holy Communion at Divine Liturgy. Breakfast was then served, and all went out for formation. After the command "Disperse!", many put on their bathing suits, got ready, and went swimming in their favorite place by the nearest river, having fun, swimming, and refreshing themselves. Others went into the city with their parents. In the evening, everyone returned to the camp – tired, but happy with the celebration of their jubilee year.
