On the evening of Wednesday, March 11, the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY. The icon arrived at 6:00 PM, and already, a multitude of faithful were waiting to venerate the icon.
In the monastery’s main St. Seraphim Cathedral, and moleben and akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was served by monastery and visiting clergy: Archpriests Vasily Zelenyuk (rector of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in Staten Island, NY), Andrew Bazilevich (cleric of the Mid-American Diocese), and Dimitri Jakimowicz (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Stratford, CT); Priests Nectarios Yangson (guardian of the icon and rector of Holy Theotokos of Iveron Church in Kailua, HI) and Artem Siss; and Protodeacon Alexey Pnev (convent clerics).
Cathedral dean Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski prayed in the altar.
Over 375 of the faithful came to the convent that evening to pray to the Heavenly Queen.
Fr. Nectarios delivered a sermon on the history of the Hawaiian Icon, touching on José Muñoz-Cortes and the original Montréal Iveron Icon.
