On the evening of March 29, the 5th Sunday of Great Lent, dedicated to Venerable Mary of Egypt, the Sacrament of Holy Unction was served by a gathering of local priests in the Church of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" in Staten Island, NY.
The Sacrament was officiated by Archpriest Serge Lukianov (dean of New Jersey), co-served by: Archimandrite Gabriel (Pigarev; dean of Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY), Archpriests Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George Serbian Church in Elizabeth, NJ), George Zelenin (rector of St. Michael Church in Wayne, NJ), Vasily Zelenyuk (parish rector), Paul Ivanov (rector of Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn), and Nikolai Gulin (rector of Life-Giving Spring Icon of the Theotokos OCA Mission in Philadelphia, PA), as well as Protodeacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ).
Many Orthodox faithful gathered for this Sacrament and received it with reverence, unto the healing of soul and body.
The clergy and guests expressed their deep gratitude to the parish sisterhood for organizing a supper following the service.
