On Saturday, April 4, the feast of the Raising of the Righteous Lazarus, four days dead, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, and His Grace Theodosius, Bishop of Manhattan, paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, and concelebrated Divine Liturgy.

Serving alongside the hierarchs in St. Seraphim Cathedral were convent clergy: Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski, Priest Artem Siss, and Protodeacon Alexey Pnev, as well as Archpriest Andrew Bazilevich (cleric of the Mid-American Diocese).

The day was sunny and mild. This visit marked Bishop Theodosius’ first visit to Novo-Diveevo Convent as diocesan vicar. In his sermon during the Communion of the clergy, His Grace touched on the life and resurrection of Lazarus.

Upon conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Nicholas thanked the conductor All Generalova and the choir for their calm, prayerful singing, and the joy they brought to service.

His Eminence greeted the clergy and sisters of the convent, led by Abbess Makaria. The First Hierarch wished everyone a steadfast and calming Holy Week. He blessed everyone that God may bestow the joy of Pascha upon them. Then the protodeacon intoned the Polychronion for the abbess and sisters.

After Liturgy, a festal luncheon was held. Archpriest George Zelenin (rector of St. Michael Church in Wayne, NJ) joined those gathered.

The hierarchs had time to spend with the residents and clergy before departing back to New York City to prepare for the evening service for the Entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem.
