On Wednesday, August 19, the great feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Bishop Theodosius of Manhattan celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with the hierarch were cathedral clerics: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky.

The Synodal choir sang at Liturgy under the direction of Vadim S. Gan. A large number of the faithful gathered to pray on this great feast, the majority of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Following the service, Bishop Theodosius greeted the clergy and the faithful with the great feast and addressed those present with a sermon on the history and traditions of the feast of the Transfiguration.

His Grace also performed the traditional blessing of fruit baskets.

The cathedral sisterhood organized a festal lenten meal, during which the clergy and parishioners continued their fraternal fellowship.
