On September 20 – the 16th Sunday after Pentecost and the Forefeast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos – His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad were cathedral clergy: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, and Hieromonk Theognost (Kogan).
The Synodal choir sang at Liturgy under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan.
Numerous parishioners and believers from other parishes gathered in the cathedral to pray at the service and commune of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon completion of the service, His Eminence addressed the congregation with a sermon on the Gospel reading regarding the Parable of the Talents; he urged the faithful to accept all that they have with gratitude and to multiply their talents unto the glory of God, the glory of Church life, and the sake of their own salvation.
A traditional luncheon was organized in the cathedral hall, where clergy and parishioners continued their fellowship.
