"The Icon Chose My Arms & Legs to Take It Around the World" – An Interview with Eugene Korolev - 12/02/17

An icon of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos containing a piece of the omophorion of the Mother of God is visiting the churches and monasteries of the Eastern American Diocese. Brining the icon from Moscow is the general director of the Russian National Creative Workshop "Art-Project," LLC, and director of the International Foundation for Mutual Development & Strengthening of Spiritual Unity and the Religious & Historical Values of Russian Orthodoxy in the Homeland & Abroad "Under the Protection of the Theotokos," Eugene (Evgeny) Korolev. Mr. Korolev first visited the Diocese in December 2015, when a monument to the Reunification of the Russian Orthodox Church was dedicated at the Diocesan Center in Howell, NJ.


Brooklyn, NY: Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Liturgy in St. John the Forerunner Cathedral - 12/02/17

On Sunday, November 26, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, visited St. John the Forerunner Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY, and celebrated Divine Liturgy.


October 13, 2012: Divine Liturgy for 5th Anniversary of Reunification in Three Saints Church

On Saturday, October 13, in Garfield, NJ’s magnificent Orthodox church, consecrated in 1984 to the Three Great Teachers and Hierarchs of the Church ‒ Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom, the joint pastoral conference of clerics of the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Church Abroad and the Moscow Patriarchate in honor of the 5th anniversary of the Reunification drew to a close.


July 28, 2013: Divine Liturgy for 1025th Anniversary of Baptism of Rus’ in St. Vladimir Memorial Church

On Sunday, July 28, the All-Diocesan St. Vladimir’s Day Celebrations were held at St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ. The celebrations were organized by the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Church Abroad, and dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ and the 75th anniversary of the church’s founding. Clergy who came to the celebrations from America, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus greeted His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. The archpastors, clergy, and multitudinous pilgrims piously greeted three wonderworking icons of the Mother of God that have graced the celebrations with their presence: the Kursk Root Icon, the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Icon, and the Pochaev Icon.

July 18-19, 2015: Divine Services in Diocesan Cathedral led by Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev & All Ukraine

At the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Onufry was co-served by Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, and Bishop Eusebius of Khotin, as well as parish, diocesan, and visiting clergy. Singing the Liturgy was the cathedral choir, under the direction of Alexandra Lukianov.


Moscow: Eastern American Diocesan Hierarchs take part in Solemn Liturgy for 100th Anniversary of Enthronement of Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow in Christ the Savior Cathedral - 12/12/17

On Monday, December 4, the great feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, the 100th anniversary of the enthronement of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow & All Russia, solemn divine services were held in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, Russia.

Russian New Year’s Concerts to be held in New York City

On Sunday, December 31, and Monday, January 1, the Grammy-nominated Clarion Choir, working with the Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Music (PaTRAM) Institute singers, will continue the tradition of performing Russian sacred choral music on New Year’s Eve and Day.

On Sunday, December 17, the feast day of the Holy Great-Martyr Barbara, celebrations were held at St. Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral in honor of the 90th birthday of the cathedral’s pastor emeritus, dean of New Jersey, and president of the Synodal Arts & Architecture Commission, Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov. 


Syracuse, NY: Bishop Jerome celebrates Divine Liturgy in Entrance of the Holy Virgin Church - 12/18/17

On Sunday, December 10, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, visited the Church of the Entrance into the Temple of the Holy Virgin in the Syracuse suburb of Jamesville, NY. The visit was timed for the parish festivities in honor of its patronal feast, which had taken place on Monday, December 4.

Philadelphia, PA: St. Andrew’s Cathedral receives Reliquary, Saints’ Relics for Patronal Feast - 12/19/17

On Wednesday, December 13, St. Andrew’s Patriarchal Naval Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA, celebrated its patronal feast day. A spiritually significant and long-awaited gift for the church was a reliquary containing the relics of many saints, presented to St. Andrew’s parish by the clergy of St. Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral in Howell, NJ.

December 23-24, 2017: Divine Services for St. Herman Youth Conference

On Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of December, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada led the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim Cathedral at Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, co-served by Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, cathedral dean Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski, and visiting clergy. Over 300 people gathered for the evening service. Prior to the start of Vigil, everyone venerated the holy icons and relics of Holy Dormition Convent. The service was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Youth participants of the conference sang the divine services.

December 23, 2017 - St. Herman's Youth Conference. Lecture by Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky delivered on the ramifications of the October Revolution of 1917 on the United States. Fr. Serge speaks about the history of several revered icons, which after the revolution found their way from America to "Novo-Diveevo" Convent, as well as about the lives of the convent’s founder, Archbishop Andrei (Rymarenko), and the founder of Holy Protection Church in Nyack, Archpriest Seraphim Slobodskoy. 


Nanuet, NY: Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" hosts St. Herman Youth Conference - 12/25/17

On Saturday morning, December 23, the annual St. Herman Youth Conference opened in Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY. This year, 160 young men and women are taking part in the conference, traveling from around the Eastern American Diocese, Canada, Russia, and Australia. Arriving youth were greeted by Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada.


Stratford, CT: Bishop Jerome celebrates Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church - 12/27/17

On Sunday morning, December 17, Bishop Jerome traveled to Stratford, CT, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church. The visit was timed for the parish festivities in honor of its patronal feast, which would take place on Tuesday, December 19.


Montgomery, AL: St. Martin of Tours Mission celebrates First Patronal Feast Day - 12/27/17

On Friday, November 24, St. Martin of Tours Mission in Montgomery, AL, celebrated its patronal feast day. The mission’s rector, Priest Elias Crowder, celebrated Divine Liturgy. Afterwards, parishioners and guests enjoyed a festal meal and Christian fellowship.
