On Tuesday, January 31, the second day of Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan’s visit to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church began with the singing of an akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos before her wonderworking Icon "The Milk-Giver" (Galaktotrophousa or Mlekopitatelnitsa) in Odessa’s Holy Dormition Patriarch Cathedral.
In the monastery’s grand central Cathedral of the Mother of God "The Life-Giving Spring," the service was led by His Eminence Agathangel, Metropolitan of Odessa & Izmail. In addition to Bishop Nicholas, the ruling bishop was co-served by the vicars of the Diocese of Odessa: Their Graces, Bishops Arcadius of Ovidiopol and Victor of Artsiz.
After the akathist, Bishop Nicholas spoke one-on-one with Metropolitan Agathangel about life in the Russian Church in America. The vicar of the Eastern American Diocese was then given a tour of the monastery, during which he was able to pray at the relics of Venerable Kuksha of Odessa.
