On Monday, August 28, the great feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, parishioners of Holy Dormition Church in McKeesport, PA celebrated their patronal feast day.
Divine Liturgy was celebrated by rector Archpriest Dimitri Ermakov and attended by parishioners and visitors. Worshippers venerated the burial shroud of the Blessed Virgin, a gift to the parish, which was placed in the center of church prior to Liturgy and remained there throughout the service.
Upon conclusion of the Liturgy, Fr. Dimitri blessed flowers that had been brought by the faithful for the feast, and then intoned the Polychronion for all of the parishioners.
This coming weekend, the parish will be celebrating its 100th anniversary of its founding. Parishioners await with excitement the archpastoral visit from Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York and Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan.
