Flushing, NY: Patronal Feast Day of Holy Annunciation Church

On Sunday, April 7, the great feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, the eponymous church in Flushing, NY celebrated its patronal feast day. With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Archpriest Alexandre Antchoutine (dean of Long Island & the Hudson Valley) celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archpriest Ion Arama (parish rector), Protodeacons Paul Wolkow (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY) and Vadim Gan (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City), and Deacon Matthew Keil (parish cleric).

The parish choir sang prayerfully under the direction of conductor Zinaida Skachinsky. Many local parishioners came to pray to the Holy Mother of God. Almost all of those present received Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, a memorial litia was served for longtime parish rector Archpriest Alexey Ohotin (+2013) and the servant of God Ioann, the father of Matushka Victoria Arama, who recently reposed in Moldova.

Fr. Alexandre afterwards congratulated the clergy and parishioners with their patronal feast day.

Interaction between those present continued during a reception organized by the parish sisterhood in the church hall. During the meal, the parish warden lovingly presented Fr. Ion and Matushka Victoria with funds collected to attend the funeral of her late father.
