New York City: Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos celebrated in Synodal Cathedral

On Wednesday, August 28, the great feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, co-served by cathedral clergy: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Edward Chervinsky, Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Vadim Gan, and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; diocesan cleric).

Singing at the service was the choir under the direction of Matushka Eugenia Temidis.

Despite its being a work day, a multitude of cathedral parishioners came to honor the memory of the Queen of Heaven. Almost all confessed their sins and communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of the service, Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated the clergy and faithful with the "Pascha of the Mother of God," as this great Theotokion feast is known, and spoke about its history and the power of prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos. His Eminence called on the parishioners to turn to the Mother of God with faith, hope, and love, and to be worthy of her aid and grace.
