New York City: Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On Sunday, December 15, the 26th Sunday after Pentecost and feast of the Holy Prophet Habakkuk (Abbacum), Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, co-served by Bishop Vincent of Zlatoustovsk & Satka and Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan. Concelebrating with the hierarchs were cathedral and visiting clergy.

Divine Liturgy was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Many parishioners and faithful from other parishes in the city came to pray at the service.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Bishop Vincent delivered a sermon on the day’s Gospel reading, about the wealthy youth and whether it is possible for the rich to be saved.

A luncheon was held in the cathedral hall, prepared by the sisterhood for the clergy and faithful.
