On February 7, the Sunday of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada paid an archpastoral visit to Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in Staten Island, NY, where he celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy.
Concelebrating with His Eminence at Liturgy were parish rector Abbot Vladimir (Zgoba) and Deacon Eugene Grigoriak (cleric of the Church of Our Lady "The Inexhaustible Chalice" in Brooklyn, NY).
Upon completion of Liturgy, Archbishop Gabriel addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon on the subject of the feast, and congratulated Fr. Vladimir on the occasion of his namesday (in 2016, the former Fr. Petro received monastic tonsure with the name Vladimir, in honor of the first of the Holy New Martyrs – Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev). In turn, the rector thanked His Eminence for his visit and shared prayers.
After the service, a festal luncheon was served in the parish hall.
