Nanuet, NY: “Softener of Evil Hearts" Icon visits Novo-Diveevo Convent

On Friday evening, December 17, the myrrh-streaming Icon of the Mother of God "Softener of Evil Hearts," currently traveling throughout the Eastern American Diocese, visited Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY.

The icon arrived toward the end of the evening service, which had held earlier than usual in order to accommodate the visitation and allow for a moleben and akathist to be served. Nearly 200 people gathered, both parishioners and faithful from parishes. Archpriest Serge Lukianov (dean of New Jersey), officiated the moleben and akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos in St. Seraphim Cathedral, co-served by monastery clerics: Priests Artem Siss and Alexei Klar, Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky, and Deacon Nicholas Ilyin, joined by Archpriest Elias Gorsky and Priest Andrew Podymow of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY, and Deacon Alexey Pnev (cleric of Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY).

Praying at the service were Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski (cathedral dean) and the sisters of the convent, led by Abbess Makaria (Fadina). The akathist was sung by the faithful, who all joined together to list up their fervent prayers to the Mother of God.

Following the service, everyone was able to venerate the icon and be anointed with holy myrrh from the wonderworking image of the Mother of God.
