Enfield, CT: Bishop Nicholas officiates Patronal Feast of St. Nicholas Church

On Saturday the 18th ad Sunday the 19th of December, the feast day of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Enfield, CT, where he officiated the divine services on the occasion of its patronal feast.

Serving alongside His Grace were: Archpriests Michael Crowley (rector of St. Xenia Church in Methuen, MA) and Brendan Crowley (parish rector), Priest Alexei Klar (cleric of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY), Protodeacon Alexander Jarostchuk (cleric of Holy Epiphany Church in Boston, MA), and Deacons Alexey Pnev (cleric of Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY) and John Martin (parish cleric).

The parish choir sang beautifully under the direction of conductor Alexander Cooley, joined by singers from neighboring parishes.

This year, the joy of the parish feast was augmented by the presence of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Throughout the service, the faithful approached to venerate the holy image.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon, in which he spoke about the importance of entreating the intercessions of the Most Holy Theotokos and of the saints, most especially the Holy Hierarch Nicholas.

After the service, a festal meal for all was provided by the sisterhood in the parish hall.
