On Tuesday afternoon, January 11, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan arrived at St. Nicholas Church in Endicott, NY, to officiate the funeral of Archpriest Stavros Rousos, who reposed in the Lord on January 3.
His Grace was co-served at the Funeral Rite for a Priest by Archpriest Constantine Semyanko (rector of Holy Presentation Church in Stratford, CT), Archpriest Andrei Alexiev (ROCOR cleric), Priest Matthew Smith (parish rector), and Deacon Michael Pavuk (cleric of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Mayfield, PA).
Prior to the beginning of the service, Bishop Nicholas addressed the faithful, expounding on the life and service of the newly reposed.
After the singing of "Memory Eternal," His Grace relayed the condolences of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, to Archpriest Stavros’ family and friends.
The following day, January 12, Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the church by Fr. Matthew. Archpriest Stavros was then interred in St. Michael Cemetery in Jermyn, PA.
