New York City: On Thomas Sunday, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On Thomas Sunday, May 1, the feast of Antipascha, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Priest Živojin Jakovljević (cleric of the Serbian Church in the USA), Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff (cathedral cleric), and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; diocesan cleric).

The Synodal choir sang the divine services beautifully under the direction of Vadim S. Gan.

Many cathedral parishioners communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Archbishop Gabriel addressed those gathered with a sermon on the subject of the feast, and spoke about the liturgical particularities of Bright Week, the first week after Holy Pascha.

His Eminence called on the faithful never to despair, but to thank God that we are members of Christ’s Holy Church, and to believe that we can inherit eternal life.

The Artos was then distributed. In the cathedral hall, the sisterhood organized a luncheon, during which interaction between the clergy and parishioners continued.
