New York City: Osanna Chamber Ensemble holds Concert in St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral

On Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th of March, St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City hosted a performance of the musical work "Kanon Pokajanen" ("Penitential Canon") by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The work was presented by the Osanna Chamber Ensemble. The members of the choir studied the score for about two months while residing in different cities of the United States, and met for a joint rehearsal two days before the performance.

The concert was sponsored by the Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Music (PaTRAM) Institute.

On the second day, April 24, Their Eminences, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York and Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada, attended the concert. Before the start of the performance, cathedral rector Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov greeted the guests.

At the end of the concert, interaction between the choristers and guests continued at a reception organized by the choir in the cathedral refectory.
