St. James, NY: Metropolitan Nicholas officiates Patronal Feast of St. Dionysios Monastery

The Brotherhood of St. Dionysios in St. James, NY celebrated their patronal feast day on Monday, October 16th, with a visit from His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York. The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad brought with him the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" to the joy and blessing of the brotherhood and parishioners.

Concelebrating with His Eminence at Divine Liturgy were:

  • Archimandrite Maximos (Weimar; monastery abbot)
  • Archpriest Alexandre Antchoutine (dean of New York City & Long Island)
  • Archpriest John Klingel (rector of St. Andrew OCA Church in Dix Hills, NY)
  • Abbot Zosimas Krampis (monastery cleric)
  • Abbot Silouan (Justiniano; monastery cleric)
  • Hieromonk Vasileios (Willard; monastery deputy abbot)
  • Protodeacon Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY)
  • Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; diocesan cleric), and
  • Deacon Andrei Antchoutine (cleric of Holy Virgin Intercession Church in Glen Cove, NY).

Prior to the start of Liturgy, Metropolitan tonsured Sean John Lildharrie a reader. Monk Elias (Scott) was ordained a subdeacon. Readers Demetrios Zirogiannis and John (Connor) Atchison were awarded the right to wear the orarion.

At the Little Entrance, Fr. Vasileios was awarded the right to wear the nabedrennik. The monastery brotherhood chanted the service beautifully, led by Fr. Elias.

Upon conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Nicholas spoke about the life and martyrdom of St. Dionysios. Fr. Maximos thanked the Metropolitan for his visit and the blessing of the Icon "Joy of All Who Sorrow."

After Liturgy, the ladies of the parish offered an abundant meal to all.
