On Sunday, January 5, the Mission of San Juan de Shanghái y San Francisco in Matagalpa, Nicaragua; carried out a significant missionary activity in honor of the upcoming Nativity feast. This event aimed to strengthen the work entrusted to the mission in the region with the blessing of Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, who supports and encourages the work of missionary life in Nicaragua.
During the day, various activities were carried out, including a moleben to ground the day in prayer and gratitude, and recreational activities that encouraged participation and a sense of community among attendees. More than 100 children received toys, which was a show of generosity, love, and support from the faithful. A gathering was also organized where participants shared food, symbolizing unity and mutual support.
The children responded with enthusiasm and gratitude to the work of the Church, experiencing the miracle of learning how to share. This event was held with the valuable support of benefactors, and contributes to strengthening the presence of the Orthodox Faith in Nicaragua, a country known for its historical richness and cultural diversity.
The rector, Priest Daniel Valle, humbly asks your prayers for the Nicaraguan Mission, emphasizing the importance of the work carried out in the name of God and the Church, seeking above all the salvation of souls and the wellbeing of the community. It is part of the missionary path that "people who are in darkness [will] find the Light… that people who have been led astray will find the Truth" (Fr. Daniel Sysoev).
This event is a testimony of the commitment of the Orthodox Church to the community and her desire to bring hope and faith to all men who seek God’s consolation.
