On Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of February, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York visited St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church in Pompano Beach, FL and officiated the divine services there.
Concelebrating with the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad at Divine Liturgy were:
- Archimandrite Maximos (Weimar; superior of St. Panteleimon Skete in Coconut Creek, FL)
- Archimandrite Stefan (Khilchuk; rector of Our Lady of Pochaev Church in North Port, FL)
- Archpriest Serge Prisacaru (cleric of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL)
- Archpriest Peter Jackson (dean of the Spanish Missions Deanery)
- Archpriest Yaroslav Lutoschin
- Priest Nathan Williams (chaplain of St. Luke the Evangelist Chapel in Coconut Creek, FL)
- Hieromonk Marcos (Cantillano-Calderon; abbot of Monasterio de San Antonio el Grande in Río Negro, Nicaragua)
- Hierodeacon Paisius (Alexeevets; UOC cleric), and
- Deacon Stefan Stoyanov (diocesan cleric).
Prior to the start of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas tonsured Samuel Oyón a reader for service in St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL.
Singing marvelously at the divine services was the parish choir under the direction of conductor Katherine Lukianov. The church was filled with worshippers, virtually all of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
A luncheon was held in the parish hall, after which Metropolitan Nicholas, as parish rector, led the General Parish Assembly.
In the second half of the day, His Eminence visited the site of the future Holy Resurrection Cathedral and inspected the ongoing construction efforts.
