On June 30 & July 1, 2016 – in honor of the feast day of the Holy Hierarch John, Wonderworker of Shanghai & San Francisco – Sts. Cyril & Athanasius Institute for Orthodox Studies held a symposium on "Saint John & His Legacy," where several lectures were read by the holy hierarch’s spiritual children.
Below is a video of a talk given by Matushka Maria Potapov (St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC), in which she shares her childhood recollections of personal interactions with St. John and her observations of him in France when he was the ruling bishop of the Western European Diocese during the 1950s. Through this video one can learn of St. John’s character, his miracles and the impact he had on the faith of those around him, all through the eyes of a child.
In honor of the holy hierarch’s feast, Matushka Maria Potapov’s lecture is being offered to our readers here.
